Instagram Lite
Price: $
If you ever wished that there was a lighter version of Instagram, then today is the day for you. Instagram Lite is the official lite version from the company itself. As almost everyone knows what Instagram is, you might be wondering as to what features has the company cut off and what works better in the lite version.
Main features
The lite app is an official Instagram app that cuts down on a few features, but all the main ones are still present. You can still view/post stories and posts. You can still find all the main tabs such as Main Feed, Explore, Post, Reels, and Profile. Furthermore, you still find the same user interface that users have found to love.
And do not worry, the option to DM is available as well. All the important features are where they should be.
Main utility
The lite version is more or less the same app as the full app. The main utility of the lighter version is to provide the same experience in a smaller package. It only takes a part of the space that the complete app takes. It also does not slow your phone down if you have a mid-range or entry-level phone.
The significance that Instagram Lite offers over the full app is the smooth usability on entry-level devices or old smartphones. It uses less memory and processor power than the full version of the app.
The differences
The first thing that you will notice in the Lite app is the lack of ability to post Reels. This would be felt more if you were a content creator. Another main difference that you would notice is that everything loads in a browser-like way. Whenever you click on a post or a tab, it will show a loading bar at the top which loads each time you open something.
The next differences you will notice are in the Post tab. On the full version, when you click on the post icon, you see a few options such as Reels, and Live. Both those options are not available in the lite version, which makes it faster and lighter.
When you are posting a picture/video, the usual editing facility is not available. Instead, there are a few old Instagram filters available. There is no feature to zoom in or zoom out a photo using multi-touch. But you can click on the icon to post a cropped-out photo, or the square-cropped photo.
Conclusion
Instagram Lite is a great alternative for people who have mid-range or low-end smartphones and tablets. This app will not slow down your memory, and at the same time, provide you with all the features that you require from Instagram. Scroll away!
